Yes yes yes, nod nod nod
Some tell me the key is action
‘Try stuff out, run a marathon’
Others say it’s contemplation
‘Meditate! Let inspiration
Blossom up from some inner lair
Trickle down slowly from thin air’
And I say yes yes yes
And I nod nod nod
Some insist that ‘Work is healthy’
‘Whichever, no role is silly
On the horse quick quick back you get
Or be forever stuck in bed’
Others preach free-flowing feels, ‘Rest
Go to a spa, hide in your nest’
And I say yes yes yes
And I nod nod nod
Some say I need a therapist
‘Rummage the past, grope in its mist
Until some triggering event
Surrenders its hold as you vent’
Others brandish medication
‘We’re mere chemical contraption’
And I say yes yes yes
And I nod nod nod
The sane position is to admit that no-one has a clue
That seen from above, we’re but dots on a graph, red, green, or blue
Clustered around one another, held together by beliefs
Philosophies and belongings, that give us the most relief
So I say yes yes yes
And I nod nod nod
I don’t share my opinion (no one’s asked for it anyway)
Each one’s too busy conversing to rethink beyond their way
Their energy poured into forming some sounds, words, their sentence
None left to check they’re being consistent, that they're making sense
So I say yes yes yes
And I nod nod nod
Making the world slightly better
By letting them think they’re wiser
