Back on the horse!

Watercolour representing a world of hamstesrs. Most are in dark buildings, spinning their wheel. At the front exhausted hamsters are queing up, some dragging their broken wheel along. They face an authoritative-looking hamster showing new wheels and saying 'Quick, pick a new one!'. A hamster in the middle of the line is looking confused. His head going from the landscape of dark buildings to a lush nature landscape that can be seen in the distance, at the end of a long and tortuous path in the desert.

This is the piece I found the hardest to paint so far. Emotionally, that is. I kept leaving it and struggling to go back to it.

I burnt out. I wanted to take the time to work out a sustainable way back into active life. But my journey was cut short by administrative processes forcing me to find a job as quickly as possible. Any job. Although I was not ready.

I still don't believe it was a good thing, despite some people thinking it's best to 'get back on the horse' sooner than later. The question remains open...
